Investment highlights
• Emergency Response Africa (ERA) operates a fully integrated emergency care system that connects dispatch, first responders, ambulances, and hospitals in real time.
• Rapidly expanding their community of 1,600+ first responders with partnerships across governments, corporates, and ambulance providers
• Strong early traction with measurable improvements in reach, adoption, and preventable death reduction
CHALLENGES
Nigeria faces a critical gap in access to timely emergency medical care, resulting in more than 1.2 million preventable deaths each year. Many patients do not receive care quickly enough during cardiac events, accidents, maternal complications, and other emergencies where minutes can make the difference between life and death. The system remains fragmented, with limited coordination between responders, hospitals, and transport providers, and major regional disparities in emergency care access.
Beyond infrastructure gaps, low public awareness, limited first responder coverage, and the lack of a unified emergency dispatch system make it difficult for people to reach help when they need it most. These challenges contribute to avoidable fatalities and strain already overburdened health facilities.
THE SOLUTION
Emergency Response Africa (ERA) is building an integrated, tech-enabled emergency care network designed to deliver rapid, reliable medical assistance across Nigeria. The company’s platform connects individuals to nearby first responders, dispatch centers, ambulance operators, and partner hospitals, ensuring coordinated care from the moment an emergency call is made. ERA currently works with a growing network of 1,600 community first responders, alongside public and private ambulance providers and hospital partners.
Through a combination of real-time dispatch technology, dedicated responder training, and partnerships with governments and corporates, ERA reduces the time it takes for people to access critical care. This hybrid model strengthens emergency readiness, improves care coordination, and supports additional services such as readiness assessments and first aid training, enabling broader community impact.
IMPACT TO DATE
ERA’s expanding network and technology platform are already improving access to emergency care, with over 43,000 lives covered through 12 corporate partnerships. The company has generated steady revenue growth. With 36 full-time employees and growing operational capacity, ERA is poised to significantly reduce preventable deaths by increasing public awareness, expanding partnerships, and bringing reliable emergency response to underserved regions.
Madiro’s investment will enable ERA to build on its strong foundation, scaling its reach and strengthening its emergency response system across Nigeria.
